I've had friends with children with learning needs that were greater than slight that went to SAS Pudong and were very successful.

Re: AIS GUANGHZOU - SALARY
If the teachers at AISG are being paid in RMB those figures are out of whack, the exchange two years ago was 6.4 and today its 7.04.

Perhaps a budgetary issue, when your scale only goes up three steps you can save some cash?

I generally detest it when people quote large chunks of material, but this is well said Helen Back! Now if I can only convince my new teaching partner and my admin.

You need to know that when your passport expires your card will stop working. That happened to me recently and I have to go in with my new passport to reactivate my card, not life threatening but inconvenient.

Re: Reasons HOS/Directors/Principals Lose Touch
Sometimes they bring their own agenda which has nothing to do with the good of the school, despite their claims. I've aworked for principals that are so obvious padding their resumes to the detriment of staff and students to the point where they are taking credit for actions that they may not even taken.

Re: Colleagues with Big Egos - Say Something or Not?
When I first arrived at my current school the big egos used to sit in the backrow during our staff meetings and heckle the principal, they were insufferable. If not kept in check those big egos can make life hell for their colleagues and students.

Re: China: All benefits taxed from from 2022?
After reading the summary of the new Individual Income Tax law it appears it has a more significant impact than previous posters have identified. Essentially the law states that if you live or work in China for 183+ days your worldwide income is taxable, fewer than 183 days then only your Chinese income is taxable. As the text reads thats total days not working days, so essentially if you live in China for more than 6 months your worldwide income is open to Chinese taxes.
That potentially has tremendous implications for expats working in China.

Re: China: All benefits taxed from from 2022?
Other more recent tax changes that we've seen
For people who are working 183+ days a year in China, the Chinese government will begin to categorize us as residents. (Currently, we’re considered non-residents.)
This designation will change the way taxes are calculated. Whereas non-residents in China have fixed tax rates throughout the year, residents have a “cumulative progressive” tax rate, meaning the rate fluctuates from a lower rate at the beginning of the year to a higher rate as the year progresses.
My school is absorbing these costs now but I can see a time when they may not be able to, especially with the other changes mentioned above.
