I believe that people are getting frustrated because they see this forum as something it isn't; this leads to anger when people leave a post that does not live up to their high standards of morality.

I do have to say that in my opinion this forum exists for people to leave THIER opinions and experiences. Of course there have to be some boundaries but for the sake of freedom of speech the bar has to be pretty low. Otherwise we start to censor ourselves to the point where the function of the site would be compromised.

Therefore, I see little point in starting a personal attack on one person. If they seem to fall below your perceived levels of professionalism or morality then challenge the issue NOT the person. By attacking the individual I feel you only sink to their level - one you seem to dislike so much.

Challenge comments with facts and opinions and let the reader make up their own mind. We are all adults and professionals so do not need opinions censored. If you can logically accept this position then you can no longer hold on to this anger - which of course comes from a benevolent concern for others but to me is misplaced.

I do find it all rather intolerant. Ah but 'where do you draw the line?' I hear you say. Well this is a very difficult question to answer but I do feel confident we are no where near it at present.

For what it is worth, that is my one and only comment on this as I too feel that these personal attacks are wasting too much time and space on this forum.

Thank you for your reply. I'm intrigued about the dual language approach in the primary school; has anyone had any experience of such curriculum?

Thanks

Harrow International School Bangkok

Does anyone have any information about the above school? I've heard it was badly affected by the floods and saw its enrolment suffer as a consequence. Has it recovered?

Thanks in advance.

Ah, well this raises a more important question: do schools advertising for primary P.E. specialist teachers actually want secondary P.E. specialists? I am a primary school teacher with P.E. as my subject specialism and am currently the P.E. co-ordinator. However, very few primary schools in the UK employ a teacher to only teach P.E.

Thanks

Re: Primary P.E. Specialist

Hi everyone, can anyone let me know what they think of accepting a role as a primary P.E. specialist teacher? I am a little concerned that if I accept such a role as my first teaching post overseas it may well make life difficult if I want to find a position as a normal class teacher in the future.

Has anyone had direct experience of this? Part of me thinks it is a dream job but another part of me feels like I should see how international schools are run before taking the plunge on a specialist role.

Thanks in advance.

Re: BKK schools
Interesting comments re various BKK schools. Having worked at a few of them, the most enjoyable ie students, work load is Ruamrudee; And after being there a few years, the salary is pretty good (over B100,000 plus provident fund). Interestingly, the IB results are "usually" the best around.
They do not mention a housing allowance on their website; is there one?

Thanks for all the info, much appreciated.

ChoirGuy it seems that there are quite a few positions available at Shrewsbury, is this the normal turnover or has something happened? I want to look at it positively but thought I'd check with you before sending off my application!

Hi ChoirGuy

I applied for a primary position but have not heard back from them yet. When did you send off your application?

On another note I see you are planning to leave Bangkok, so can you let me know if any of the better schools there are in what could be described as nicer parts of the city? I am looking for my first international post and I've got a young daughter so I'm looking for reasons not to dismiss Bangkok as an option!

Thanks

Update

Hi there, I was wondering if you could give me an up to date response to the original post as I am considering applying for a primary post there.

As well as details about the package could you please confirm that these positions are ESL posts?

Thanks
