One needs a very good package in order to have a decent life style in Dubai forget about savings. We have now completed 2yrs here and the cost of living here have rocket high, now we have to pay on top of the company allowances which is no longer enough and they refuse to top up, school fees alone have gone up 15per cent in one year, housing rental ours has doubled since and is going up still, car rental, health clubs our was increased by 50 per cent and its not a beach club, toll charge and everything else as we now and they are talking about VAT charges in January, we already have gov tax and dental charges which we still have not found a reasonable company that will accept dental plan here. They are defenitely driving the expat working force out slowly.

Back in 96 when we relocated to Kuwait we used a local UK company and they did all the packing pick up and delivery in kuwait and we received all the boxes ok at the other end with no probs i think the customs in Kuwait go more for videos in the old days, cds now a days i guess but all we took was personal things such frames with pics, children fav toys even a huge tv which was a waste of money as the electronics there are much cheaper than Europe.
It is expensive but as longer the company pays for relocation i would highly recommend to use a reputable shipping company.

What are you like MISKI ?
If you are coming to this forum for symphathy and attention i am afraid you won't get much of either from me. By writing rubbish in this threads and then going back and deleting is very immature for someone whom claims to be a teacher. You were saying you were bored already in the uk how can one be bored with their own children during holidays?! Enjoy motherhood it only lasts for a short time

As your postings goes and i understand to my best aknowledge since my native language isn't English, you were once British but married a Kuwaiti and now you wear a hijab and have kuwaiti citizen and you teach at a girls school in salwa, wow, why so much hate? Not to mention you tend to twist our words in almost every posting. I too married an Arab 18 years ago but the only difference is i kept my beliefs and he kept his.
Chill out woman, take up yoga, swim and try to work on your unger skills and life is here to be enjoyed.

My main aim in this thread was to raise my views in the american teacher situation in kuwait and i have achieved that. Having come across some of your postings in another forum i can only assume you have serious personal issues. I was born with a brain and i do try to use it in the most sensible way i can.

You sound just like a t..... oops, sorry to desapoint you but i have nothing to report to you. I could not comment about usa as i have never lived there and i love live music concerts, booze is not a necessity to me but normalityin my evryday life is very much in my agenda.
Enjoy your summer break in the uk if that's where you are, you sound very exausted and frustrated sadly just like myself yrs back. No, i don't feel the need to go running back home for my summer holidays since i am very fortunate to be living in a normal civilized country, thank God!

Home: Moved house 4 times within my 6 year stay, the places were just nightmare after nightmare
Job: Very rewarding and very nice working colleagues and not forgeting the long holidays which i did appreciate back then
Hobbies: shopping, handycrafts and swimming in the pool as beaches are polluted with sewage and oil and full of broken glass and litter
Social Life: house . and more house . and vice versa, no live concerts or local bar/club to chill out
Income: good
Outgoing expenses: to much on food and more food and clothes shopping and getting away for short breaks out of the country in order to keep my insanity and the huge phone bills ofcourse
Horrific Incidents: could write a book but to boring and depressing

My point was to help those whom have not visited kuwait before purely based on my personal experience there cos if i have had all this advise years ago i would have never set foot there either.

Smilar incidentes does happen on a daily basis over there specially with the labour force but the outside world gets no press and one has to have good contacts inside to get out of it fairly, i never drove over there during my 6yrs the reazon, i had seen and heard to much i was to scared of the consequences, unless one has good contacts inside your are on your own, very sad but true. I would never go back there purely based on my passed experience, life is to short to miss out.
