Where would you like to teach, missy? I guess it depends on where you would want to go...?

PsyGuy, the PM system doesn't work on this forum (just an FYI...that's why she was asking for your email). I don't know why they don't get rid of that button/link at the bottom...it hasn't been working since I signed up.

Yes, of course! I have already seen openings for the next school year, it's crazy. There aren't too too many right now, but I am sure in October-November they'll be popping up here and there...

How do recess and supervision schedules work?

Here in Canada, Ontario, elementary students get 3 recesses throughout the day (2 that are about 15 minutes long, and 1 lunch recess that is about 30-40 minutes long). Teachers have a schedule where they are told when to provide supervision for these recesses.

High school teachers in Ontario have a far sweeter deal, as there are no recesses, therefore, no recess supervision to do (there is hall supervision, but not that much as far as I know).

How does it work overseas, in general? I know, I know...depends on the country. How does it work in your area of teaching?

Thanks guys, just curious :)

Yup, I've already got a boxed resume!

All I need is: a little bit of luck, a little bit of applying at the right time, and a little bit of CV goodness to help get me into a good school...that's not asking for a lot, right ;)

Hehe...

What happens if you REALLY love the school and are deemed to be a good fit? Could you request to stay and extend the contract (or get a new one) for many more years, perhaps until you retire?

Or...do you have to shuffle out the door after those 2 years are up? I know this might sound ridiculous to ask, but I have no idea how the process works, any answers are appreciated :)

1 year contracts?

What countries or schools are known for giving only 1 year contracts, instead of 2? Just wondering, because sometimes one doensn't want to remain in one place for 2 years...

Merci! :)

...when can you register to attend a fair?

Hey, when can you register to attend a particular fair? My SEARCH associate has been really busy and has not been able to answer my emails :(

Hi southeast asi, thank you for the advice. I will definitely start contacting schools in the next few weeks and months...thinking that most directors should know by december or so if they will need a French teacher for next year (or for another language).

Thank you again.

...that's actually a good idea, to book a room now and cancel later (only if I need to...yeah, wishful thinking that I'd be picked up right away without any IB experience...just want to cover all my bases in case I don't end up going to Cambridge after all!)

Thanks guys :)

...oh my God, we have to book a hotel room already if we are planning on going to the fair? I don't even know if I am going 100% yet! Are there enough hotels in Boston for me to wait much longer and then simply cab it to Cambridge?

Yikes, you guys are scaring me! Boston should have a ton of hotels, no? How much would a cab fare be?
