It doesn't matter...I just really enjoy the process of language acquisition. It's exciting....
Ill be going to the job fairs next year with an open mind, ready to add another language to my skill set. Japan sound fun...and seems like a challenging language.
Thanks for the tip...

Best countries to learn a new language?

I just got finished with a 4 year post in China - and one of the best parts (for me, at least) of life in China was getting to learn the language. I was forced to - as most locals don't speak English and for my survival Chinese was necessary. I also found out I really enjoy being close to fluent in a 2nd language. It made me think - I'd really like to make my next posting in a country like China - one where you are forced to speak the native tongue, English isn't everywhere, and the locals are friendly and willing to help a nascent speaker.
Thanks for all suggestions.....

Beijing vs. Shanghai

I will be working in Beijing (YCIS) for my next contract. I've been in China before, spending two years in Shanghai. Any thoughts on how the two cities compare? How does the cost of living match up? Is pollution worse in Beijing than Shanghai, or are they comparable? Which city is more fun?

Thoughts???????

Money isn't the issue...essentially when you factor in cost of living, the two packages are roughly the same. The car is necessary in Trinidad because of the distance to school and to get to the store, beach, etc.
It really boils down to which place is best to spend two(or more) years of life?
Also - Craig - do you know why your friend was so miserable in Trinidad? Was is social life? The weather is gorgeous - so it wasn't that. Now I am really curious...

I missed all the job fairs this winter because I wasn't sure if I wanted to head overseas. In March I put my resume up on TIE Online and a month later ended up with a job and two other offers I had to turn down. Two of the schools that contacted me were very good schools with excellent reputations. I've also emailed schools directly before - and had success with that. But I think TIE works well....and its a cheap alternative to the job fairs.

Kenya or Trinidad?

I have two offers to decide between and could use any input you can give:

School #1 is International School of Kenya in Nairobi

School #2 is International School of Port of Spain in Trinidad

ISK offer is about 10 K more than ISPS, but ISPS provides a car, and ISK doesn't....

ISK is IB, ISPS is AP - I have experience with both....

I am a single 34 year old man that wouldn't mind finding a wife, either expat or local....but am definitely social and into the outdoors.

Any thoughts about either of these schools and/or countries?

Thanks!
