Re: Malaysia Salaries

Gross 20k/month in KL would suffice for a family of 2-3. Most mid tier school would offer around 13-15K for expats but cost of living in KL is on the lower side if compare to Singapore but prices are picking up fast! Any salary less than 15K is not worthy in my opinion

Re: Recruitment Scams

Not sure how authentic is staffroom. Bali-based. Sounds pretty illogical but surely motivating to fresh grads willing to try moving international

Re: Open University or Online degree from 'regular' UK university?

Looks good but not online. An Oxford MSc is a steal and the cost is pretty affordable (less than 13K)

Re: Covid Situation in Malaysia

The country is on lockdown now. I believed new teachers outside the country won't be able to start the new academic year as far as the lockdown continues.

Re: Covid Situation in Malaysia

Largely manageable. Borders still closed I guessed and teachers are mainly recruited inside the country rather than overseas.

Things changes all the time, there is always a window period where foreign teachers will be able to enter the country.

Heard the 4th wave is coming and figures hovering around thousand every single day.

Re: THAILAND/VIETNAM : Chances of getting hired in our current situation?

This year is not a good year to teach abroad. Personally, I have a job waiting for me in China which I am extremely pessimist in getting into the country. I will have to forget about it as the waiting game of getting vaccination, international borders opening and etc are so troublesome. I hate COVID!

Re: Visa

I guessed I am in the same situation as you. Signed the contract for teaching post in China but the Chinese Embassy is closed until further notice at where I am, so not sure when can I start initiating the visa application. It is a waiting game until Aug where I am expected to commence work.
Meanwhile, I hav to think of a Plan B just in case the visa application fails. I hope the school in China will understand our difficult situation.

Charterhouse Asia

Anyone has any reviews on Charterhouse branding of schools ? It's a famed college in UK and now expanding to Asia.

They are heavily recruiting recently so I am curious and pretty keen.

ISR has non reviews on them so far

Re: Should we pull out of China move?

U have accepted the offer in Shanghai and now backing off?

This is the reason why I posted on another forum about employers do not hesitate to rescind offer made as teachers are not keeping their contract intact.

Teaching in China

Hi guys,

Do you think it is possible for expats to relocate to China this summer given the current pandemic?
Heard latest news China is not ready to open its borders to newly recruited teachers.

Btw, I have just been offered a 2 year contract in China. Offer letter signed and stamped and apparently my employer is hoping I can go over by August latest.
