I understand the policy enough to know that they ignored their own policy and put me and my family in jeopardy.
I also they need to have a compliance officer if they claim to have such a policy.
I know enforcement and judgement are two different words - I am seeking a judgement.

At any rate, the timeline is clear enough; an imbecile can see what happened and I enjoy contacting lawyers, explaining the timeline and acting on what little feedback lawyers give.

deposing IBO

I filed a whisleblower complaint against a school in Thailand I was at - the details of the complaint and the school are beside the point. What matters is Thailand has criminal penalties for defamation and the truth of the defamation does not matter. The owner of the school immediately threatened me with criminal defamation and I immediately withdrew the complaint.

Anyway, the IBO obviously informed my school about the complaint violating their own whisleblower policy. They refuse to confirm or deny that they informed my school about the complaint. In fact, they have stopped communicating with me at all.

Any advice on forcing the IBO to either admit or deny they informed the school about my complaint?
Has a teacher ever successfully sued the IBO?

@fangpiren
It is ABSOLUTELY to your determinant to inform the IS of your choice early. Not until you have a new appointment in a new IS. You get to use the SA database while searching and nothing bad happens until you do inform the IS. The moment you do youre handing over all power and control to them with little more than a plea of please be merciful. The better prepared you are the better protected you are. Regardless of when you tell them, they will be fine, the consequences to you have far greater potential to be detrimental to you than they will be to the IS.

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking.

Re: On Search Database but Not Hired through Search

The job wasn't listed on SA. It was listed on JoyJobs. I think the school once used SA but not at the time that I accepted a position with them.

On Search Database but Not Hired through Search

If I accepted a job at a school that is on the SA database but did not get the job through SA, would SA drop me if I break contract?

SA Feedback on References

I've had such a minimal response this recruiting season that I'm starting to wonder if current school has panned me on references. I contacted my SA associate and asked not about specific references, which I understand are confidential, but that if my references supported an application. I don't think that is an unreasonable request but I've had no reply.

Generally, does SA renew your account with bad references? For all I know, I could be applying for job after job with references that wouldn't even get me an initial interview.

They don't really give a rats ass about the Phd; all you'll get out of it being Dr.
I knew a Korean teacher with 2 Phds and my white skin, blue American passport and mere BS meant that I made more than him.

I did call him Dr. Dr. though because I felt bad.

And not everyone thinks the point of IT is to travel. Most start out with that mindset -I certainly did-, but if you're at a great school in a great city, with lots of short & cheap flights to different countries, and you have young kids, why would it be such a bad thing to stay there for 10 years?

Whatever floats your boat but why leave to begin with?

No. But nor do I want a string of short stays.

More importantly to me, if you’re happy somewhere: stay there. Life is short.
[/quote]

Two years is not a short stay IMO. I'm sure many schools initially look at my resume and initially give it a pass but come April and May, they might reconsider. I've never been unable to find a job so 2 year stints are acceptable.

As far as "happy" goes well thats different for different people. I'm happy where I a now but only because I can leave in a year and go somewhere else. Honestly I never understood IT who move half way around the world and stay at one school for 15 to 20 year. There are 2 such lifers at my present post and they were it like a badge of honor. The whole point of IT is travel again just IMO.

Re: Search or Schrole for Japanese schools?

Once I got a job in China using ISR reviews. I went down the list of reviews specifically searching for high paying but mismanaged tier 3 schools because in my experience, low tier and mismanaged Chinese schools are ripe for a good long dawdle. And I found a school on ISR that I was at for 2 years. It was probably the best and best paid dawdle of my career!

Try searching using the ISR reviews.

Admin that touch

I was in a meeting the other day and this admin was answering a teachers question and he did so by resting his hand on the teachers shoulder while talking to the group; he had his hand on the guys shoulder for like a full 30 seconds. I've seen this guy do this several times - resting his hand on peoples shoulder while he talks to them.

Am I te only one who thinks that this is a bullshit 1950s type management strategy that shouln't be used?

Re: Teaching in China

I came here on a family visa last March and immediately found a job. The school just recently was able to convert my family visa to a residence permit without me having to leave China. Every time in the past, I 100% and without exception needed a Z-visa to get the residence permit. I don't know if this answers your question but there is a huge demand for IS teacher right now.

Re: Reply

I worked at a school in Shenyang and they refused to pay me my bonus; they paid my summer salary but refused my bonus. I filed a complaint with the labor bureau. The school immediately went to the PSB and without my permission, the PSB cancelled my residence permit and gave me 3 days to leave the country. You have to take Chinese regulations with a grain of salt. The OP would do better to talk to the school admin in a friendly and pleading manner, that will get better results. For example, had I gone to my boss in Shenyang and said hey, I git kids to you know, I probably would have gotten my bonus.
