I went the other way around (Korea to Thailand). To me it is as simple as as money vs quality of life. Korea definitely had its financial benefits and I really enjoyed my first few months there, but by the end of my contract I couldn't wait to get out. I can answer some of these related to the DC licence and QTS, but not the NJ and CA credentials. 1. I wouldn’t call it particularly lax, but I suppose it depends what you’re comparing it to. I was in a similar situation to you and had no issues getting interviews at lower tier schools in South East Asia. As long as you taper your expectations and don't expect the top jobs (which it sounds like you have) then you have a decent shot.
