Re: China closed

To add to this, a NFP school in Tianjin has warned new staff that they may have to adjust their flights to arrive two weeks earlier than planned in case the 14 day quarantine is still in effect in July. I am also in China currently in a different city and am starting to doubt being able to or it bei...

Re: Corona . - affect on student numbers

I don't think it would be the top schools in each city but the 2nd and 3rd choice schools. As position, hypothetically, open at the top schools, the students who were on wait lists and are currently at other schools will move in to take their places. That being said, the reason those students are in...

Re: In 50s ready to relocate: comparing pension options

I think you need to do a lot of research on the topic of pensions as there are many many factors that apply. 1. You probably will not be able to put in enough years at a school in Europe to contribute to a meaningful pension. Most of the European pensions assume a full/substantial career length for ...

Re: Unionpay annual withdraw limit time frame

The 100 000 rmb is for foreign withdrawls outside of China. What I have read and understand is it is calendar year. I do not think China differentiates between calendar and fiscal year like the west does. Note the 100k rmb is per passport not per card. This was changed a few years ago. Bank transfer...

Brexit Impact on European Job Market

Hi, With the recruiting season about to start, I was curious to hear peoples opinions on how BREXIT may impact the job market in Europe. With three potential pathways; leave with no-deal, leave with a deal or stay, there is a lot of uncertainty. Do you expect to see more openings this year, less, no...

Re: Insurance Question

Having done three years in the middle east at a large international school the idea of needing secondary insurance seems excessive. If you are at a decent school you will have great insurance and access to very good private hospitals. You will be covered worldwide with the only concern is the USA is...

Re: Teach-Now Master's in Education

Depends on the calibre of school you are looking to move to. Top schools may question the value of said Master whereas middle to lower calibre schools will gladly accept it. Think of, how can you market the value added to teaching and learning from the master's degree when interviewing. This applies...

Re: Best Job Fair to Land a Tier 1 School

Search References Questions

Hello, I've searched the forum to find the answer but came up empty. This is all for preparation next year. QUESTION 1 I am a Head of Department, as one of my references on Search would it be useful to have a colleague in my department complete a reference? I have leadership, parents and what not al...

Re: Small school v/s big school

I think the bigger piece is leadership and leadership's comfort of the school size. If you have leadership who understand how a small school functions it will be great. If you get leadership with experience at larger schools and do not understand smaller schools there will be challenges. The inverse...
