That isn't a red flag to me. I agree, but if the changes for the worse are very significant then I think the school s...

Re: Response

Yes, it can definitely be a huge blow -financially and in other ways- when it happens to you, but it does not 'happen all the time', at least not in the sense that most teachers are at great risk of it happening to them. Only a small percentage of schools does not honor their contracts - the VAST ma...

Re: Avoid Swiss boarding schools

If I were to consider Switzerland, I think I would trust the person who has been working there for years, rather than someone who hasn't and only looks at the salaries. @EyEyEy's message is also backed up by other posters, and is almost identical to what I've heard from a good number of teachers who...

That's weird, when I click on your name (as I regularly do), I see '17.58% of all posts'. A glitch perhaps?

Re: Situation in Thailand

As @Sid said, if the school told you in the interview they have been teaching in-person, but it turns out they have been teaching online instead before the interview, then they lied and you have a reason to be upset. However, up till very recently (first spike around Feb 1st) the numbers were very l...

Re: List of schools that hire without Schrole-ISS or Search?

There are plenty of schools that use Search or ISS, but at the same time will also hire teachers that email them directly. I know of no school that exclusively hires through these agencies (although I'm sure there are some). So don't feel you should limit yourself to schools that don't use Search or...

Re: Teachers who ignore all the reviews and then post a review

I think a lot of those reviews are by teachers who didn't read the first 10 negative reviews before accepting the job. For those who did read the reviews and accepted te job anyway, it was either (as others have stated) their desire to live in a specific city/country, the fact that they really neede...

Re: Avoid Swiss boarding schools

Tough. On the one hand we have several teachers that have taught (or are teaching) at Swiss boarding schools or are in-country and personally know teachers that work at these schools, and they're all saying you won't save much or anything at all. On the other had there's @PsyGuy who claims that they...
