Re: Feeling very stressed in my new city - Advice?

Here are some ideas:
1. Try Airbnb to get a nicer place.
2. Join Facebook groups of people of your nationality or just expats living in Serbia or the city where you are in Serbia to get advice and support.
3. Join Internations and find groups there for support and network.
4. Maybe contact your embassy there or consulate and see if they have any support systems.
5. Get plenty of sleep, try to get some exercise, eat healthy and keep booze and coffee at a minimum to keep up your health. Go easy on yourself until you get on your feet and are more settled.
6. Skype with family and friends back home to get ideas and support.

Good luck. :)

Re: IB 'Feedback and Complaints' and 'Whistleblowing Policy'

I agree with Psyguy. I think think they would have these policies because they have had problems in the past. I think they also foresee problems arising in the future. I know staff who have worked in the IB and IB schools who say the IB does sell a lot of junk: posters, tie pins, etc. and that some schools buy loads of it and the IB just loves that. But they won't say that publicly (the IB or the staff). The IB is a bit of a money mill. Think of all the courses they offer too. I bet it's a similar business model the Church of Scientology has for their courses. I've paid for a few IB courses and thought they were pretty junky. And the IB itself says the policies are for problems with the IB itself, not just IB schools.

How long to wait for review to be posted?

How many days should I wait for a review to be posted? I'm wondering if either there was a technical problem with submission or it's posting has been denied.

Worldwide SIM card for international teachers?

Has anyone found a good company from which to purchase a SIM card that can be used anywhere in the world and inexpensively so a new one doesn't have to be bought every time one relocates or goes home for a visit?

Re: Pensions: Sweden vs Denmark vs Finland vs Norway vs Germ

Does an EU resident have access to state medical care in any EU country? Example, if I'm a Norwegian citizen or resident retired with a state pension but living in Asia, if I require a medical procedure do I have access to state health care in Portugal, Czech Republic, etc? And if I chose to have a medical procedure in an EU country where the procedure was more expensive than having it done in Norway would I have to cover the difference in expense?

Re: Pensions: Sweden vs Denmark vs Finland vs Norway vs Germ

My plan is to get the best state pension I can at a late age but retire someplace inexpensive, probably in Asia. The problem is that some European countries require you to live in that country 6 months a year to receive their pension.

Pensions: Sweden vs Denmark vs Finland vs Norway vs Germany

I have two years teaching in Germany. I'm wondering for a pension which country it best to go to at this point: return to Germany or one of the Scandinavian countries. And aside from Germany how do the Scandinavian countries including Iceland stack up against each other in terms of pension? Cheers. :)

Norway salary scales: State and International Schools

Are salaries and pensions in state and international schools in Norway comparable? Or if one is seeking a long term career does one offer advantages the other does not?

So many IPC schools in The Netherlands

The Netherlands have many schools using IPC. I enjoy teaching using the curriculum.

1. Does anyone know why The Netherlands has so many schools using the IPC?
2. Does The Netherlands offer good pensions in state and international schools to start in early 50s?

Another masters degree or PhD?

I have a masters of educational leadership and I'm thinking of pursuing another post graduate degree out of interest and also for career purposes. In terms of career and salary scale is there an advantage to having a Phd over another masters degree?

Buying accident/long term disability insurance?

Is anyone buying accident and/or long term disability insurance because their school is not providing it? I'm especially interested in long term disability as many schools do not offer that and (knock on wood) things happen. If so, can someone recommend a provider?

Re: Making the leap to admin. Is it worth it?

Fine Dude,
Thanks. Well, what about in Europe? Same or similar situation? I wonder about little unknown schools not part of any chain here or there for example in the Western Europe, the Carribean, etc.
