Re: Doubling up on Recruitment agencies

One bit I of information I have found out from my Head of School is about why certain schools may choose to recruit with ISS vs Search. Apparently, ISS now charges a flat fee to the school for how ever many candidates a school hires. Search charges for each individual hire. So it is only cost benefi...

Re: Last straws

For me, it's wasn't the school at all. I loved it. However, I didn't feel like I was getting what I needed out of the city. It's a city of 2 million that lacks a metropolitan center and didn't fulfill me culturally. People are very friendly and yet, due to language barriers, little integration was a...

Doubling up on Recruitment agencies

I am in the process of resigning from my current IS and looking at new positions that are becoming available. I am currently registered on ISS-Schrole and GRC. My colleague mentioned that my position has already been posted on Search (not a problem as I indicated that I was likely to leave and my sc...

Advice on References

As I prepare for the end of a contract I am getting my references in order. I need to add three new references to the search agency I am using. I have one from my first international position. My issue is this, at my current school neither the head of school or principal has ever observed me in the ...

Ideas for Networking needed

I am an IB chemistry teacher who has committed to teaching at my current school through June 2020. By the time I finish this contract I will have 19 years of teaching experience (4 years IB, 2 years AP, 6 years international, 2 yrs as dept head). My question is this. Knowing that I will begin search...

Re: Accepting/Declining Interviews

If you know that you definitely don't want to work at the offering school I would say that it's appropriate not to waste their time accepting an interview anyway. If you're unsure, then by all means, practice your interview skills because you never know. I have had two offers to interview in regions...

Uruguay

I'm looking for any experience that people have living in Montevideo. Cost of living, quality of life, ease in getting utilities, ease of transportation, etc. I'm reading very different information regarding cost of living and the quality of the local beaches.

Re: Euro Schools - specifics, please?

I just interviewed with one of those schools. Unfortunately, they didn't fully read my dossier where I indicated that I had taken IB training but did not have experience teaching it. Five minutes into the interview it was over because not only did they want someone with experience in IB, they wanted...

IB positions

I'm finding myself in a Catch-22. Many international schools want teachers with IB experience. I have AP experience and have taken the Category 1 training for IB but no experience teaching it. How can I get the experience if I'm not currently teaching in an IB school? If you're an IB teacher (I'm sp...
