Re: Effect of Brexit on WE teaching job market?

Not sure why you don't think Brexit will not be a factor. In the EU a job can only be taken by a none EU citizen if no EU citizen can fill that role. Pre brexit this means that British teachers have the priority over all none EU citizens even if the school may prefer the American candidate. If the E...

Re: Effect of Brexit on WE teaching job market?

I think we are a long way away from the final deal that the UK will strike with the EU so its still all guess work at the moment. If the UK decides to commit suicide and go no deal then the teachers from the USA and other none British English speaking countries will at least be on a level playing fi...

Re: Middle east: Unmarried teaching couples

If you give birth less than 180 days after the date on the marriage certificate then they will not issue a birth certificate for the child and the matter is referred to the court. The UAE does not allow shotgun weddings.

Re: Middle east: Unmarried teaching couples

In the UAE if you turn up to a doctor pregnant and unmarried the doctor has a legal obligation to report you to the police. It is a criminal offence to give birth while not married and women have gone to prison for it. If you have your child outside of the country but are not married you may find th...

Re: Experiences with teenage children

Alot will depend on how she feels about the move. If she is exited and wants to go it will probably work out fine. If she is reluctant and has already decided to hate it that's a real problem. You are moving with both parents and that's very important to a child so you have that in your favour. Thin...

Re: Hostile Deputy

Ah, bunny boiler is a common term in the UK. It's a reference to Glen Close in Fatal attraction. Seven weeks. Yeah you can do it no problem. You would not be the first person to find themselves in a relationship they knew nothing about. Good luck with the new job.

Re: Hostile Deputy

Basically she had a crush on you which is not uncommon when relationships break up. It deflects emotions elsewhere. There was probably a lot of daydreaming involved. When she realised this was not reciprocated she turned nasty. She is treating you like an ex. You have done nothing wrong and you are ...

Re: Single parents

Its a rather unfortunate truth that a single divorced parent must also consider the local culture. We,in the West have a relaxed attitude to such things as single parents but some parts of the world are rather more old fashioned. I have seen some very sad cases where children are excluded by the loc...

Re: Brexit Implications on EU

Glad you remembered about the Welsh. Westminster is the government of the UK. This includes all four countries. If they trigger article 50 all four will leave. Scotland will not be exempt anymore than London or Liverpool will be exempt. If Scotland does then leave it will be a very long process for ...
