This is exactly how I do it. I have a bank account in the US, then I just wire my investment money to Saxo from it, my Saxo account in is USD so it's a USD to USD wire. I then have cash in my US account for spending and also in my USD account that I have in my current country of residence.

Since you are trying to avoid your home country banks, I'm not sure what you can do as I don't have to avoid banking in my home country. I have heard of other Canadians with the similar residency issue.

I actually have Saxo now. I originally opened DBS, but then decided to open Saxo. I have been using Saxo for years now. It's easier because it's a direct transfer, rather than transferring to DBS, then to DBS Vickers.

I looked into Luxembourg, can't remember the name of the investment bank at the time, but I think it's now called Interactive Brokers I believe, however, I wasn't eligible because of my country of residence at the time.

I was able to open an account in Singapore, however, it was because I was also opening an investment account with the same bank. This was with DBS and DBS Vickers. I was following the Andrew Hallam book suggestions.

Though not a traditional bank account, Transferwise, or Wise as they call themselves now, has multi-currency accounts now. These accounts can be used to receive money in the nominated currency. Not sure if that's what you're looking for though as they offer a debit card, but it depends on your country of residency if they are able to offer it.

They seem quite cost effective at around USD$9500.

I searched the forum and some UK universities are mentioned i.e. Keele, Bath, Sunderland, Nottingham, ranging from GBP8000-13,000. Also, some Australian universities, though the costs for these seem very high even when accounting for the currency exchange rate.

Any other suggestions for cost effective online Masters programs I should look into?

Tashkent International School in Uzbekistan seems to be close to some skiing opportunities. Any accessibility/terrain insight from skiers who have worked at this school?

I'm starting to compile a list of international schools/cities that are close enough to ski resorts for weekend day trips. So far I have:

Chile - Nido de Aguilas - La Parva, Valle Nevado, El Colorado, Portillo - 1hr to 2.5hrs driving from Santiago

Bulgaria - Anglo American School Sofia - Borovets, Bankso - 1.5 to 2.5hrs driving from Sofia

Romania - American International School Bucharest - Sinaia, Poiana Braşov - 1.5 to 2.5hrs driving from Bucharest

Japan - Tokyo schools - Gala Yuzawa - 75min bullet train from Tokyo Station

I'm hoping for input from others in compiling this list. Any suggestions that I can add? Switzerland? Other European cities?

Have you worked at, or visited an international school with an Early Childhood Education (ECE) building where you have just thought WOW! it has a great set-up, is aesthetically pleasing, has its own forest school attached (in EU) etc?

I'm doing some research into international schools that have purpose built ECE buildings for Early Years/Pre-K/Preschool/Nursery/Infant School/Reception.

Not looking for a review of the school, just the names of schools to contact with questions about design, inspirations etc.

The two principals from two different ESF schools that jointly interviewed me were Australian, but I'm not sure how mixed the group is overall. If they are CIS accredited I think perhaps CIS publish that information on their website, though I'm not sure about that.

I didn't ask about specifics like dress code etc, sorry can't help you out with that one. They were very clear about class sizes in the interview though, but perhaps it's just those two principals since your colleague wasn't asked about it during the interview. I'm pretty sure I also found something about class sizes mentioned on the ESF website somewhere too.

I interviewed with them a couple of months ago, they asked me in the interview if I was aware that there would be 30 students in the class and how I would feel about that. Even in the 5-6 year old class which they call Year 1, Kindergarten in other schools, they said would have 30 students.

The climate in Hanoi is different to other parts of SE Asia (Ho Chi Minh, Phnom Penh, Bangkok, KL, Singapore etc). It's similar to Hong Kong in that it has a winter, which most don't realise. A damp, humid, grey, cool and mouldy winter. If your school is on the same latitude then it may experience this type of weather, rather than the wet/dry season found further south.

I have received an interview request from them for the Jan 12th closing jobs. I also saw on the international teachers facebook group over the weekend that others are asking questions about ESF so they must be contacting people with requests last week and this week.

Any updates on this school. Nothing in a very long time on the paid side.
