Basically to pretend it never happened (i.e. leave it off of your CV and come up with some plausible reason for any gap this leaves, etc.).

A colleague and friend of mine once ghosted a job where she did a runner two months into her first year by saying in interviews the following recruitment cycle that she had taken that year off to care for a family member, which she actually did do the second half of that year. She ran because her HOS was stalking her and ended up finally sexually assaulting her in his office.
